Edgy marketing

Recently an energy drink called Cocaine was pulled from the shelves because the FDA said that the company was illegally marketing the drink. See full story. Whenever a new product comes out it's success or failure usually depends on how creatively it is being marketed. In the case of Cocaine, the marketing was it's downfall, along with a little shove from the FDA. I'm willing to bet that most people after seeing Cocaine on the shelves, weren't convinced that it actually contained cocaine, which it does not. But apparently the FDA believes there is some direct correlation between drinking a beverage named Cocaine and the promoting use of an illegal narcotic. Some may argue that this may be crossing the lines of the First Amendment, but whatever... A friend of mine just came back from china and sent me a few photos of oddly named/marketed drinks. Sadly, I don't think any of these drinks will ever make it on the shelves in the States.

After looking at Tardhard.com, Let me respond by quoting Peter Griffin, the father in The Family Guy:

Why would you say something like that Cleavland, for shock value? There's edgy and then there's offensive. Good day sir!
